Elamipretide (also known as SS-31) is a synthetic, mitochondria-targeted tetrapeptide designed to treat cellular energy dysfunction. By selectively binding to cardiolipin in the inner mitochondrial membrane, it stabilizes mitochondrial structure, reduces oxidative stress, and enhances ATP (energy) production.
